Terra Sig Production Notes

Just in case anyone is interested in all the steps I'm taking in my quest to find the perfect insta-gloss terra sigilatta, here is a running documentary:

Terra Sig Production Notes

It's a living document and as I update it, you'll be able to see any changes.

Comment on this link if you have any suggestions!

Next steps:

Create smooth ball-shaped porcelain forms which will be the centerpiece objects in my class show collection. The forms will feature the best of the terra sig recipes I'm able to create.

Create colored forms of terra sig. This will be tricky because as you add color, the insta-gloss factor is less likely because all color will introduce particles that are not as fine as what you're already working with (the finer the particles, the more shiny your terra sig).

Alright, back to work!

Here's hoping we can do this soon...

October 25th is going to be the second Cone 6 soda firing - we might be able to put some small pots in. The more we test, the closer we will be to being able to fire it ourselves.

The pots from the pit firing shouel be in Tatem on Wednesday and hopefully, some will still be around for next Tuesday to see.

Home work

This is what I am working on at home. Didn't want to transport to class as they are not finished. I want to add more designs to them with clay and undergraze.
